Jamiesha began as the husband-and-wife duo of James and Aniesha and has grown into a dynamic five-piece band, now including their son Mone and Aniesha’s brother Gling. With proud Barkindji and Western Samoan roots, the group brings culture, passion, and purpose to their music. Their debut single *Until We’re Free* won three Bronze Medals at the 2019 Global Music Awards and made history in 2021 as the first Indigenous band to win the Australian Songwriters Association’s Open category. In 2023, Aniesha completed the AIR Women in Music Mentorship Program and the Airlock Studio’s Immersive Program. The band has played across South-East QLD and co-hosts the annual *Blak Christmas* showcase. Their latest single *Bloodshed*, released in July 2024, confronts mental health struggles and was a nominee at the 2025 Queensland Music Awards. Aniesha’s songwriting is deeply personal, aiming to connect and give voice to those often unheard.
